With thisone I used a picture I took of my sister's dog, Emma, and photoshoped the hell out of it so that it set the tone of the message the poster is conveying.
This is a calendar I designed for my Typography class. We had to hand trace the top part of the calendar and scan that part to color it in in photoshop. I was going for the intentional smudging in the "rays of sun". This was one of my favorite projects.
We had to create our own line of hair care products so I called my product HELMET. Pretty simple yet practical. Here is a picture of the labels on the actual bottles:
